73 ford 460 problem

Default 73 ford 460 problem

I have a 73 ford ltd with a 460 in it i have had the car for a couple of years and just now really starting to work on it i have replaced the timing chain and set top dead center and set the distributor at the #1 piston and it seems like every time i get on the gas it jerks and lurches its not smooth and suggestions?

Some engines had different positions for the timing marks. Are you sure you have the correct positioning for the marks? Also did you have the #1 piston at the compression stroke when installing and setting the distributor?

Yes i had the #1 piston in compression i talked to a buddy of mine and i missed a step in the whole process and its alot better than it was now i just have to fine tune it i appreciate the help
