91 f350 7.3 idi dually drivetrain
I have recently purchased this project truck that I’m kind of forced to drive at the moment. It’s a 91 F 350 7.3 L dually. Basically if it holds fluid it leaks somewhere down the line, but the body is in great shape it has been, hacked up to bed, and I think it’s going to be a really cool project truck to kind of trick out. I haven’t wrenched in quite some years I would I have decent ability to take things apart and put them back together. And this is actually something I can learn some things on it instead of a new one that’s all computerized
That being said I’ve been meaning to replace the carrier bearing on the driveshaft. It’s completely wore out in the driveshaft just slap it around and rear ends leaking, that being said I’ve been meaning to replace the carrier bearing on the driveshaft. It’s completely wore out and the driveshaft is just slapping around. The rear diff leaks too, and I’ve been wanting to do fluid flush. Well after some new Moans and groans coming from that general direction the time is now so I’ve done my research and knew what I was getting into and started gathering a few things that I knew I was going to need!
It started with a hefty clean because I don’t think the previous owner ever did, but I went from around the tranny to the rear end (a couple times)! I took the rear diff cover off drain the fluid which there wasn’t much in there and it seems to be a lot of metal shavings just very dirty nasty fluid in general. Went through the steps to getting all the fluid out and clean trying to get it is decently clean as possible and scraping a gasket and cleaning the housing and then they started taking the driveshaft out. Got care bearing off the universals out and started on their pinion seal and then I went to axle seals in such an outer bearings and races basically the whole nine for a drive train overhaul.
what I am in need of is an accurate schematic of the rear end and axles. Judging from some YouTube videos I watched I may be missing some minor things LOL. The previous owner was definitely a fly-by-night kind a guy. If I’m doing this I really only want to do it once and have no shortcuts because I really want to turn his truck in the shop and cool and reliable.
I’m also inquiring about the best place to buy all these parts maybe there is a whole rebuild kit with my local O’Reillys is kind of a pain in my *** in that very helpful. To the gentleman helping me he couldn’t even locate a axle seal so let’s not confuse them with the inner and outer bearings, chases, oil slingers, seals, o rings, universals, etc lol

If no dealer can help you, try "Vintage Parts Inc. " located in Beaver Dam, Wisc.
Some other folks may have other place to try, so lets see.
You just might be able to get a good axle assy complete from a salvage yard for a fraction of the price. Pays to check around.
