98 mercury tracer starting problem

98 mercury tracer starting problem
so I have replaced the starter and it worked for a couple days,replaced the battery also cleaned connections and made sure was tight. i turn my key and it clicks like 8 to 10 times before it actually starts. do any of you have any suggestions on what it could be? thanks in advance.
