alarm reset

I changed my battery and now cant get truck started due to I dont know the preceedures on how to reset the alarm can anybody help

I dont know if it is anything like my wifes toyota but when I disconnect her battery I have to turn the ignition on prior to connecting the cables or the alarm sounds.
