Default Blower motor resistor

My local dealer diagnosed my blower motor problem in my 2003 Taurusas just needing to replace a resistor. He said it's a $20 part and $150 labor. Is this something I can do myself?

Default RE: Blower motor resistor

Pretty simple job with just a few simple tools.. I can help you with the proceedure if needed.. The finish/insulator access panel needs to be removed from the passenger foot/lower dash area.. Then working upwards, the resistor is mounted right next to the blower motor assembly inserted into the plenum.. Is the blower function working on 'high' only?
