BRAKE LIGHTS

Default BRAKE LIGHTS

i have a 99 ford 1/2 ton, 6 cyl. the brake lights arent working, check bulbs, i've looked at the manual on the internet, it shows the fuse box under the hood and also shows one under the dash on left side, i cannot find the one under the dash. it doesnt show a specific fuse for the brakes. pressing on pedal but no brake lights. any help appreciated, thanks

Check to see if there is current going to the brake light switch. Then check to see if there is current coming out of switch. An inexpensive test light will do this for you. Fuse number 13 under the dash gives current to the brake light switch. If it is good, and current is going through the brake light switch, it is possible the turn signal switch may be at fault. You will probably find the brake light fuse or the switch is bad. Click here for pictures of fuse box.
