Default A/C orfice tube

95 Lincoln Mark VIII, Here is a video of what my A/C is doing. What should I do? I think my orfice tube is cloged. I plan on replaceing the orfice tube, and the drier. I think why I have no pressure on the low side the blue guage is because The orfice tube is cloged. I got frost on the tube coming out of the evaporator, not the one on the drier. Check this out what do you people think.

Looking at the guage readings and the compressor cycling like it is, I would say that your orfice is plugged.

A restricted orifice will usually show as very low suction side pressure and lower than normal high side pressure. When the compressor kicks in, the suctionagainst therestricted orifice will cause the compressor toquickly cycle out. After compressor disengagement, the rise in suction side pressure will usually be very slow. Rapid compressor disengagement and slow engagement may indicatea clogged orifice. A clogged orifice tube will starve a compressor of oil.

Thanks. My plans were to take the orfice tube off and replace it. Do you think I should replace the drier too? I will try to flush as much as I can I guess while I have it off. Also, vac it out for about an hour Someone else told me that it would be a good idea to replace that muffler thing too up by the radiator, or is this getting excessive. Any help would be appreciated. I am not an expert at all I just found out the other day that the guages have to be turned clockwise or tightened before you use them ha, ha. Can I flush the evaporator and condeser while it is still on the car? As long as I do not get any in the compressor? Also is that flush like break cleaner where it just evaporates?

Where exactly is the Orfice tube? Is it on the condesor end or the evaporator end?

The orifice is always located on the evaporator end of the line. Always replace the dryer/accumulator when you open a system. If your orifice is plugged with debris that looks like medium to dary grey pastey stuff or bright aluminum metal flakes, then you may need to replace the compressor. But looking at your pressure, you may not need to. The crud could just be from internal system left overs from MFG'n. A live flush is the best way to clean a system out. This way may require the evacuation and recharge od the system 1-3 times depending on the amount of crud in the system. I also recommend using an inline filter w/sight glass on the high pressure line. I installed one of these after the compressor failed on my 04 Freestar. Took 2 live flushes after replacing the dryer/accumulator, compressor, condensor, orifice and rear expansion valve. What's nice aqbout the sight glass is that you can see the crud being caught on it's filter and that you need to clean it before you get oil starvation in the compressor. I would also recommend the use of Polymax2 oil w/trace dye. The Polymax oil is non-hygroscopic so it doesn't absorb and mix with water like all other oils do. This site also has flush kits. I ordered and used 2 kits.

In-Line filter w/sight glass:http: http://www.autoacrepairs.com/ac_in_line_filter.htm

A/C Flush kit: http://www.autoacsystems.com/_store/..._itemsoil.html

Compressor and parts: http://www.techchoiceparts.com/

If condensor not available from Tech Choice: https://www.rockauto.com/

I've had no problems with dealing with any of these sites. They have the best pricing around for what you'll need. This should get you started. Don't rush. I took a week to do my van during my free time. Just remember to cover up any openings when not working on the system.
