can i adjust the boost on my turbo diesel?

Default can i adjust the boost on my turbo diesel?
it is a 2003 ford focus 1.8 TDCI. i was wonderin if it is safe to adjust the boost on a turbo diesel or if there will be any risk in damaging the diesel engine?
