Default Can't engage gear...Transmission?

Hi,

I tried to engage the gear this morning in my Ford Aerostar 1997, but I was stuck in P. I had this issue last Friday, when it just went after pushing the break a bit harder.
Thus, does anybody know what the reason could be? Sounds like clutch or transmission. If anybody has a clue. Just let me know. Will it be expensive?
Thank you in advance!!!

Check the brake light switch by the brake pedal. The transmission shift lever interlock gets its power from the brake light switch. Sounds like the brake light switch bracket has bent far enough to disable the switch. Or the switch itself is bad. I had a mechanic pulling his hair out troubleshhoting this type of problem for about 4 hours until I asked him if he checked for 12vdc thru the brake light switch. Switch bracket was bent far enough not to engage from bleeding the brakes since the pedal goes ALL the way down duting bleeding.

Default ok...

Thanks for the hint...Do you also think the best would be to get it towed...and then see what they find?

That would be your call. If it's setting in your driveway, I would get a volt meter and check it myself before sending it away.
