Default RE: De-tune a 3.0V6 to run on Regular Fuel

The Lincoln/Jaguar Duratec 30 runs a 10.5:1 compression ratio verses it siblingDuratec 30at 9.7:1 ratio. The Linconl/Jaguar has a 89mm Bore with a 79.5mm Stoke and the sibling has a 88.9mm Bore and a 79.5mm Stroke. Also, the Lincoln/Jaguar uses direct-acting mechanical bucket (DAMB) tappets and the Taurus/Sable/Escape uses roller finger followers (RFF).The only way to really drop the compression ratio is to either reduce the stoke or increase the deck height. You could also play with the IAT (Intake Air Temp sensor) and make the computer think that the intake air is hot which will cause the computer to retard the timing. But then you get into the issue of running LEAN unless your going to run EGTs to monitor the exhaust temp.

Why do you want to run regular fuel? If it's because of the cost of filling up, your only talking about $5 difference between regular and super unleaded. And that's if your tank is completely empty.
