Default Do I need oil change now?

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE FWD. As of last Wednesday my car had 35,464 Miles on it. I got my last oil change from a dealership at Ford and the sticker says to service it on 2/1/21 and 38.401 mileage. Oil life was at 39%. Last oil change was at 33.401 miles. They put the Ford Motocraft synthetic blend last time.

You can wait for the oil life to be closer to or at 0%.
The stickers are just increased mileage by 5000 miles, the oil life meter is based on computer inputs that a sticker cannot account for.
Personally I do change my oil at approx 5000 miles so its easy to keep track of.

I would change it. 5K is good enough for a blend. A full synthetic will allow you to go further. I go by miles and do not pay much attention to OLM's. If you really want to know, get a report done on your oil sample. Draw a sample when you drain, then you will know exactly if you can go further between changes.

The vehicles only gone 2000 miles since the last oil change though.
Are you asking if you need a oil change due to the date on the sticker?
The sticker machines usually add 5 months onto the current date, its just a guess since prepandemic the average vehicle was driven around 1000 miles a month, thus 5000 miles would likely be in 5 months time.
Oil does not need to be changed based on the date, enjoy your car and don't worry till your at the next 5000 mile interval

You are correct. I must have had a cranial vapor lock and thought he had 5k miles accrued. With that said, I would surely run it for 5k miles which should be around 38k miles. I don't pay much attention to time but go by mileage.

I was told its either 5K and/or 5 months. Whichever comes first. I ended up getting it. Ford Motocraft Synthetic blend.

Ford Motocraft Synthetic blend is what Ford dealership uses.

That is incorrect. At my dealer we have four different oil options.
1 - Cheapest oil change for $15-$20 uses Pennzoil low grade synthetic blend.
2 - Most popular is the $40 oil change/tire rotation which uses a mid level pennzoil synthetic blend.
3 - Ford warranty oil changes or special viscosity, uses actual Motorcraft oils 5w20 and 5w30 are synthetic blend, 0w20 and 5w50 are full synthetic.
4 - Most expensive is Mobil1 full synthetic oil offered are 5w20 and 5w30.

If you want Motorcraft oil you have to ask for it specifically and it will bump the price a good bit up from that advertised $20 oil change.
