Default emission system warning light

Hi everyone.

This is my first post. I have been driving a 2000 ford taurus 3.0L DOHC 24V model. Over the past month it has been burning a huge hole in my pocket.

Things started out slowly over time. The engine idle rpm used to bounce all around the place when the AC/heater was turned on. One day i was a little low on fuel. Simultaenously, i had noticed some burning smell coming out of the heater/AC ducts. At this time i had the emission system light going on and off randomly. The next day when i started the car, the AC compressor/powersteering pump/alternator belt broke loose. As a result, ford replaced everything in the way of the belt, ie: the AC compressosr(sounds like an unneccesary replacement to me), the powersteering pump and some pulley. Total cost $1400

This Emission System Warning Light sign has remained on ever since.

2 weeks later, i was on the highway when i heard something fall off the car. It turns out that the pulley had come loose and the belt broke. It could have potentially killed me by locking my steering as the power steering pump was no longer active. I dont know whose fault it is, but i sure as hell do not trust my ford dealer anymore. Cost of repairing - $200.

Now i still see this sign and my ford dealer tells me that it will go away. At the same time i asked him for the codes he obtained from the car. He obviously didnt give them to me, but said that it is possibly a result of "Hard Fault Wiring PCM". I also read somewhere that the PCM controls the AC clutch.

Would any of u have any ideas? I am going to take it back to the dealership coz when they replaced the AC compressor, they did not refill the AC refrigerant[:@]. I want to make sure i can get this light fixed by claiming it as part of warranty from the repairs made on the car.

Thanks for reading. Appreciate your help

Cheers

PS: Some extra info: I am at 122K kms and i havent replaced the spark plugs. Cud this have anything to do with it? I have some new spark plugs lying in my garage. Just need to find some time to replace them.
