engine bucks at 3500 rpm

Default engine bucks at 3500 rpm

i have a 1997 ford explorer with a 4.0 sohc. when the engine gets to about 3500 rpm it bucks. feels like its not getting gas. to me it sounds like a fuel filter, but before i put the time and money in it i was looking for a second oppinion. thanks

the answer was the idler pulley went bad.
