Having a problem with the check engine light coming on, we have replaced the mass air flow sensor 5 times & the mass air flow connector once. I have noticed the last 3 tomes I have filled the car up is when the light comes on. Need suggestions on where to look next.

Important,,,,, when you fill the tank with fuel, when the fuel nozzle shuts off don't try to add additional fuel to the tank . It creates problems with the evap system and the charcoal canister that is supposed to contain the fuel vapors. Over filling can cause liquid fuel to get into the canister and cause problems that will generate a C/E lite and require the canister to be replaced.

Technically, there was a TSB about gas tank filling years ago with the new(er) OBDII monitors; Ford says 2 clicks at the pump is full. The older expedtions used to have a major problem with raw fuel getting backed up into the canister, thus ruining it.

Wasn't the computer, the check engine light came back on the next day. Have had several mechanics look @ it all can conclude maybe electrical & will have to be rewired. So still up for anymore ideas. I've try all ideas so far but nothing has worked. Thank you all for responding.

Did you ever have the codes read? You go from telling us that you've replace the MAF 5 times to replacing the computer!!! I'd say you're just throwing money at it...what a waste. If you don't have a code reader take it to autozone or advance auto and let them read the code(s) it's free. Come back and let us know then maybe we can help.
