Default help

This is my first time in a forum and I hope it helps. The other night somebody broke my rear sliding window panel in my 1998 Ranger. I've been told by several different people I am going to need to replace the entire rear window but if there is a way to just replace the sliding panel, I would love to try that.
First - Is this possible?
Second - Where can I get the panel? I called my local Junkyard but to no avail...

Any suggestions?

The auto glass guys are the ones saying replace the whole thing. I don't need the window to slide. Is it maybe worth it to have a custom piece made?

Bolg1972 I think that David Paul proposal is good, but I will considere to use any of the followin two additionals;
a 3M film so if it brakes you contain the dangerus pices stick to the film (use the film in the two sides).
The other is to have it template so if brakes you will have smaller pices and avoid as much as possible the nifes coming from a broken glass, the glass company after they cut the glass in the shape and size you need, they send it to template and after will be ready for installation.

Have a nice day.
