Help! Carb Float Replacement

Help! Carb Float Replacement
Hi, all!
This is my first post here. I drive a '65 Galaxie four-door hardtop with an early-'70s 302 engine. My carburetor is showing distinct signs of a float that doesn't float any more, and I want to replace it.
The catch: I'm a moron. Well, not really a moron...I do a lot of my own basic repairs and maintenance, but I've never cracked open a carburetor before. Can someone just give me the most basic walk-through of how to do this job? If I wasn't so broke, I'd just have a shop do it, but I'm confident I can do it myself with a little push in the right direction.
Anybody? I appreciate VERY MUCH any help y'all might be able to send my way.
THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Best regards,

RE: Help! Carb Float Replacement
it just may need to be adjusted, but if it has a leak in it it will need replaced. If its a Holley I would suggest you buy a rebuild kit made for Holley , there just a few bucks more then the generic rebuild kits, the kits run from like $12.00 to $20.00 Dollars, an a float probaly like $7-10.00. have full instructions an pictures.......................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......................

RE: Help! Carb Float Replacement
Hi again...
It's the old Motorcraft/Ford 2100, I believe...and I actually found a repair procedure for it, but I do not have the specs for how to adjust the float. Anybody have a manual that specifies the measurement for the float?
By the way, my symptoms include: Car will start immediately without pumping accelerator, even after sitting for days, runs great for a minute, then crappy; fuel visibly seeping out of the front of the bowl; terrible mileage; running rich no matter how I set air/fuel mixture; smoke out the tailpipe; etc.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
