Help! Are Ford's Good After 365,000?
I am considering buying this van to convert into a full-time vanlife dwelling: https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3902307?ad_cid=20
It's a 1993 Ford Club Wagon - was well-maintained by the state and has a pretty detailed log. The new owner flushed tranny and put in a new radiator. It has new tires etc.
It ALSO has 365,000 miles - was a commuter, not a hauler. Has the v8 7.5L gas engine. Not sure about tranny.
Is it stupid to buy this van for 1000? I would appreciate any insight from Ford fans!

Welcome to the site..
Living in it and traveling, or more stationary?
That's quite a few miles on the clock, and doubt the trans would be OE or at least a reman. Could have been gone through a few times by now with that many miles. If it's that well documented,, odd that the trans history or any repair isn't there..
That said, you'd have to consider that at some point it will need engine help, ( or trans if a high mileage unit) and would you want to tackle the job or pay the expense. A used engine would be a lower cost option.. But if it runs well now, trans shifts/OD are good, and minimal miles are to be expected, it may do ok. Touring the Country, may not be good choice.
Looks like it has a little rust, anything significant the images don't show?
1000.00 doesn't buy much anymore, and if solid enough, at some point making an investment into the running gear (more so if you can do your own work) would make it a decent traveler. Van conversions are still fairly popular, the 460 a good power plant. E4OD trans were decent enough if well serviced and not abused.
Could always pick it up,, and if it doesn't meet your expectations, put it back out for sale.
