I need this forums help desperately (Hit and run..)
Well, I was saving up to get a motorcycle for the longest time. I finally saved up $2,000, and went searching for one. I knew I wasn't going to find much, but I was wrong. I ended up finding a guy who wanted to help me out, and sold me a very nice 02 CBR F4i.. the paint was rough, and it needed a little work, but I was ok with that. I spent my final bucks on the insurance/registration, and then began working on it. I painted it, and put atl east 3 weeks work into the electrical system and got everything working perfectly on it. My birthday was today, and I went out to eat with my mother, and while eating, we got a call from a neighbor saying my bike had been hit. (His car also got side swiped)... I returned home, to find my bike had been flung about 15 yards down the street, pretty much totaled. Frame bent up, and almost everything broken. The police were already there, and there wasn't much they could do...
My bike had leaked oil everywhere, (crack in the tank) ... so they called a firetruck out to put down some oil-dry, and the police was about to leave... I was looking around in the yard when I found part of the car that had hit us. It was the LOGO.. a Ford logo still attached to a small part of the body of the car. The car was silver, and the size of the logo and positioning led me to believe it was a Taurus.. I showed the police and he said was excited about it. He ended up keeping it, and said they were looking and would let us know if they found anything out.. Once everyone left, I walked around my neighborhood (~5 miles probably) looking everywhere for a silver ford.. I didn't find anything... Now it's starting to hit me.. I just lost my dream bike..
Any suggestions on what to do now?
....
(Yes, the passenger peg is in my yoshi pipe..)
:/ If you know of anything I can do, please let me know.. Thank you for looking
Here's some pieces from the car that hit are vehicles:
(Looks like a driver side mirror)
Here's a video of some of the pieces off the car that hit are vehicles:

Here's a drawing of the emblem I found:
(I will get a real picture when I get it back from the police tomorrow.)
If you can identify this ford model, it would be GREAT help.. Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear about loosing your bike, I can appreciate it being a rider myself.
Well, hopefully your insurance coverage covers the damage/loss ? But, If it were me, I'd start looking at some of the local body shops for any estimate info. given out ect. and give them a heads up about the hit'n run. Also, Ford dealers for owners or shops buying replacement parts, grilles, fenders ect. Maybe give the parts dept. a heads up as well.
Unless they do their own repair work, they'll need parts or service.
If they side swiped a car and bike the damages are going to be pretty severe and you may find some info with a little detective work. I wouldn't put a lot of hope in the local police, but they may be of some help or luck. Not sure how big your community is, but if a local driver they may be using some of the same dealers you would.. Might also check the local dismantlers if you can ID the car. Also posting flyers ect. might get you some results.
Good luck..

One idea: go back to the place where this happened and look around for businesses that have CCTV systems - you may end up with a video recording of the accident, and the police has the means to enhance grainy videos to figure out stuff ... HTH ....
