Interior Rear View Mirror
Can anyone out there tell meabout the interior mirror on my 2000 Lincoln LS. About three months ago, I noticed a small "silver" football shaped spot in the center. I was concerned but thought it not a major panic problem. I should have. A few days later I went out to the car and the entire mirror was silver and there were spots on the onsul, both front seats and the black shift lever plate had pits resembling the surface of the moon. It appeared the fluid inside the mirror (I didn't know there was fluid inside) sprayed out. [:-] On closer examination, the on/off switch was missing and I found a black plastic blob on the consul that was probably the little switch. Plus, the underside of the mirror appeared to have some melted plastic to the right of the hole where the switch was. The plate can be replaced at modest (?)expense ($250-dealer) but I have notbeen unable to find anything to remove the spots in the leather. What is this fluid? If I were driving, what might it have done to skin?!? FMC has been of absolutely no help what so ever in solving or resolving the "matter."[:@] Not to brag, but my car has 45000 miles, is, was nearly flawless. The engine compartment looks as new as does trunk. Interior 'til this much the same.
An, one other question. The message center (?). I am unable to reset to zero oil change reminder andjust recently I replaced cabin filter and cannot reset AC filter change message. I can press the reset button when I first start the car and it goes to miles to empty, but every time I stop and restart thecar, themessage comes back.??
Would greatfully appreciate any and all input. Thanks!
