Moonroof problems
I have a 2018 Expedition Max Limited. The moonroof rattled when I went over bumps and now it won't open. Took it to the dealer ad they want 3000.00 to fix it. I have an extended warranty and they won't approve new motors. The dealer tells me the motors have to be replaced because Ford has a "new kit" for the moonroof and the old motors won't comply even though they are fine. Seems odd to me that if Ford knows they need a new kit because the old one hasn't held up well that the new kit wouldn't include new motors. So the dealer is lying trying to gauge me or the warranty company, or the warranty company isn't standing behind the policy. What do you all think? What do you know about this?

I have not had this issue at my dealer nor do I see a TSB that would be related to what you are being told.
Its entirely possible that Ford determined the issue and redesigned the sunroof track assembly to correct the issue and the old motors dont work with the new sunroof track.
What company is your warranty though? I would assume its not a Ford warranty otherwise you would most likely not be having this issue.

Correct my warranty is with Endurance. They sent and inspector and said the motors do t need to be replaced so they won’t cover it. I am trying to learn if I’m fact Ford requires new motors even though the old ones are fine. Seems odd.
