Default More help please

So, I had fuel problems before with tank filling and stuff. So now it turns out that I think it is the moisture Big rain last night and now Lassie(the van) won't start turns over like everythings fine just wont start. Could excesive moisture cause some unknown problem. If someone with an awnser could call me Roger @ 503 332 1264 I would be extremely thankfull.

What are we working on? It could possibly be in the ignition. But we need year, make, model, engine size.

1988 e150 econoline conversion van 5.8 V8 F.I.
I ended up using a hair dryer for bout 20 mins blowing in the engine with hood closed and then she fired up. So I came to the conclusion that it was probably distibutor cap moisture. Although it is fuel injected so I'm not sure it its a cap or something else that the plug wires all meet. Maybe I should take it in and see what they (FOrd) can do with this problem and if it has anything to do with my fualty check valve in my front tank.

When it comes to ignition (Spark) problems due to moisture, you had the right Idea, but you probably would have had more effective results if you directed your blow dryer to the underside of your distributor, coil, or spark plug wire routes.

But your way was easier so maybe that is best. Good old preventive maintenance on the electrical system when you get things dry again might help future problems. Rubber gaskets or carefully applied silicon rubber in areas of suspect conditions...stuff like that.

Use dielectrical grease on both ends of the plug wires. If not replaced for quite some time, I would replace the plug wires. You could be getting spark leakage thrutheCOIL-TO-CAPwirewhen moisture is present. Best way to look for spark leakage is to get a spray bottle with dish soap in it. Spray all of the wires down real good and then crank the engine over in the dark. Any spark leakage will light up. Make sure that the coil had a good clean ground.
