Default Need some serious help please

Hey I need some serious advice if anyone can help regarding my 1990 Mercury Topaz. About 3 nights ago I started to hear some rattling in the wheelwell when I would turn, or go over bumps. I'm pretty sure we have established that these are my ball joints going up. The help I need though is advice with driving. I still need to drive it about 35 miles to have my friend help me out with it to replace them for me. I cannot get this done until next week. Generally I was wondering if I was safe to take it up the street here or there a few times until then. I was told by a friend who looked at it that they're not falling off totally, but they're just going bad. He said he wouldn't recommend driving it around going 60 mph for long periods of time, but I was wondering if up the street here or there would be fine for now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
