Default oil sending unit

I'm just put my rebuilt 4.9L back in my 94 F-150 and i am having problems getting oil pressure. i replaced the sending unit mith a mechanical gauge and it's only reading about 5psi anyone have any ideas what could be wrong. (brand new oil pump was put in during rebuild)

Ran it and it shot out quit a bit of oil. Hook back up the mechanical gauge and still only about 5-6 psi.
