Default PATS Keys...

Hello all, anybody familiar with the 05 sport trac Pats Key system? I bought a write-off and it came with no keys. The dealership was nice enough to cut me a general key to unlock doors, and the steering column to steer it when I push it, but obviously not to start it. (I haven't even tried). I have bought a couple new key blanks from ebay which should be here any day an I'm hoping that there's a way that I can program them myself. I know that at the dealer, the tech would just go out in the yard and use a handheld gadget to program the new keys, what is that machine called? And is it a machine a guy can buy at any parts store and program things himself? I'm wondering if it may be a fault code reading thing, don't laugh.... an obdII or something like that? If so, how do you do it if you had one of those machines?

Also, this sport trac sat on its side for a while, how long I have no way of knowing. Any advise on things to do before I even try and turn it over? Pull the plugs for initial crank-over was one thing I was thinking. Anything else?

Thanks folks......

Without programmed keys available, the replacements need to be programmed with an WDS/VCM.. Not a toolparts house's would have available..
