This is a thrill for me! After all the times I've tried to give help, I'm asking for some now. A friend of mine has a '03 F-250 with factory Remote Keyless Entry. The issue is, the reception range is and always has been awful. I know better than most that this was a common problem to this body, as well as Transit connect vehicles. The system works perfectly, but still the range is only about 10 feet. Ive tried all the normal stuff, other keyfobs, new batteries, and scanned for any GEM codes, all of which check fine.
I was wondering if there was a quick, easy soloution to repair this. I can't remember all the particulars of the wiring, but was wondering if I could extend an external antenna to the A pillar area.
Please let me know.

Since the VSM/Receiver is primarlilly responsible for range, would almost seem poor response there. No external antenna. Range consistent no matter of orientation to the rig?

 

yes, I get only about 10' omnidirectional functionality. if I hadnt worked on them forever, I wouldn't know it was a problem. But this is the worst one I've ever seen. Think I'll try a new VSM.

With the complaints and varying ranges, you either get a good one, or not.. Like a 6.0 :-)
