Rough idle and chugging at constant speed. Please help
Another new guy here in need of assistance. I bought a 2006 E-150 last week. It has the 4.6L V8 engine with 163,000 miles. I filled the gasoline tank and the van ran fine. I topped off yesterday with 9 gallons of gasoline and now the van chugs at idle and at constant speed. It seems to run smoother while accelerating. I checked to be sure the gas cap was tight. Does this sound like water in the gasoline? I didn’t find another post quite like the problem I am having.
On another note, neither Haynes nor Chilton’s list a DIY repair manual for this 2006 E150 van. Have I missed something in my search for a manual?
My apologies if this should have been posted in the Econoline E series forum.
Thanks,
Gary

Do what hanky suggested and then have the PCM scanned with a scanner that can detect engine misfires. Mode $06 can indicate a cylinder misfire. Also if you are in a location where it has been raining (like where I live) water could be getting in the plug wells causuing a misfire. That would mean changing spark plugs and possibly coil boots.
