Default Stalled shifting from park

2007 Freestyle automatic. Yesterday it twice stalled when shifting from park to drive and reverse. Outside temp was in 90's and AC was on full blast. Decided to shut AC off when starting and then turn on after driving a few minutes. Was Ok since but "check engine" has been lit since first stall. Seems ok now but don't want to ignore a potential issue. Any suggestions?

One of the things you can do is to have the vehicle checked for any stored codes which might provide some direction. Many auto stores will check your vehicle for any stored codes at no charge to you.

Get the codes read; anything (from TP to TACmotor not responding) will mean the throttle body is going out, which was classic for these.

Default Update

Thanks for replies. Since my post, I have used the vehicle for 8 short trips (5-25 minutes.) The "check engine" light went out after 4 trips. No problems since original stalling. Would error code still show up in diagnostic test? I would like to take a "wait and see" approach, maybe it was just an isolated misfire and maybe nothing else will occur. Is that a mistake? What would you suggest I do?

The fact that the lite went out would signify the problem is no longer present (at this time). It could repeat and spoil your day. A free check of possible codes in the PCM, if any, could save you some trouble up the road and at least you could have some idea of which system was involved. Just think , you can do this at your leisure !
