Starting and instrument issues
Hi,
I have a 2006 Focus ST3. I have been having intermittent starting problems. I put the key in the ignition, turn so that the dash lights come on, turn again to actually start the car and everythinf goes off, not radio, interior lights, no dash display......just no power to any of the car. After a few seconds the instrument dials start moving higher and high till they are all at the max and i can hear a clicking noise coming from the dash. After 3-4 minutes, the interior lights, radio etc come back on. Sometimes the car will start on the next attempt, sometimes this cycle will repeat 3-4 times before the car will start.
Has anyone had any issues like this and if so can you pin point a possible cause and fix?
Many Thanks

Yep, what Rusty said...
Either loose battery terminal or oxidised/corroded battery terminal(s). Remove your battery terminals and clean the inside of the terminals real good. Then clean the battery posts real good. Put a light coat of dielectyrical grease on the battery postd and reconnect the terminals snuggly.
