There are several things that could contribute to this problem.
It is important to know,
When were spark plugs replaced
" was fuel filter changed
Did this start shortly after purchasing fuel
Did you look for / check for any vacuum leaks (cracked hose/ hose came off)
How does it perform out on the road when throttle is depressed and demand for more fuel takes place
If it idles a little rough ,but clears up as engine speed is increased usually are signs of a vacuum leak somewhere.

If the code P0172 is a new code (not from anytime past) it is telling us that bank 1 is running rich.
Anything the MAF sensor is involved in , will concern both banks since all incoming air is supposed to come past the MAF sensor.
If you don't have access to a scan tool to get O2 sensor and fuel trim readings , what you can do is pull a spark plug from each bank and compare their color. The bank running rich might have plugs with a more black color.
Bank 1 is the passenger side and you could look for anything unusual there. An O2 sensor that is sluggish or sticking rich could produce this code. If the O2 sensors have never been replaced since new , it wouldn't hurt to replace the one for that bank.
I always suggest using a Motorcraft sensor specifically for your vehicle/engine.
If you have no other choice I guess you have to use what you can get and hope it is the correct one and isn't bad out of the box.
