What rear end gears to get?
I have a 2004 Ford Mustang and i have the factory 3.73 gears in the rear. Right now on the track I am at mid 15 second Quarter-Mile times. For power I am running a factory 4.6L 2V V8 engine with a BBK cold air intake. The car has not been Dyno'd but from specs I should be pushing near 285 hp with the set up i got.
I have been looking into 4.10 gears because the car is also streetable but i have been wondering if 4.30 gears can also work for streetable/drag?
Also I have been reading up on Richmond Gears because i can not find other gear speciality companies. I also been looking through www.americanmuscle.com and www.latemodelrestoration.com. I don't want to be the one who doesnt research before I order. Can anybody be of assistance?

I would go 4.10. I guess it depends on your driving habits, if you do a lot of interstate driving you may regret going with a 4.30. If you use it for just running around town and drag racing 4.30's are okay.

Hi russell_j2003,
Thank you for your service. In order for you to calculate the correct rear end gear ratio, you have to figure in your rear tire height and high gear transmission ratio. I have found that you want to be close to 2200rpm at about 70mph so that you are in the power range for your vehicle. I hope this helps.
