Question Window motor fuse(s)

The left rear window stopped working on our '03 Sable.I looked in my owners manual and found nothing for these motors.
Are they all on separate circuits or, should I assume a dead motor? Where should their fuses be?

Hi Rich,
Power windows usually use a circuit breaker instead of fuses. The circuit is for all the windows . I know it's a pain , but your best bet would be to remove the interior door panel and see if you are getting power to the motor itself with the driver's door window switch and the switch for the L/R window on the door. If you are getting power there, then the motor is suspect.
If I remember correctly those windows only go down part way and could be jammed .

Hanky, luckily it is up all the way! Will have to wait for the weather to warm up before attempting to pull the door panel off.

So, last night I had a back seat passenger who unwittingly went to open THAT window with the rear door switch. It went down but will not go back up with either switch. Is there a way to jump the pigtail to the switch to attempt to get it back up? Is this definitely in the motor? Is it (the motor) something I can pull and successfully replace to work right or, will I have to go to a shop?

If you don't have access to a pop rivet gun and rivets it could give you a run for your money. Look at it this way, if you get it apart and can not complete the repairs, you will at least be able to get the window up and place something under it to hold it there until you can do what you have to. If it gets to be too troublesome you can always have someone else finish the job. You won't know until you get a good look in there.

Hanky, I went ahead and pulled the motor today. Not too bad. Three 10mm bolts. It was the easier one! Wedged a piece of wood in there to hold the window up for now. hopefully this weather gets better soon. We got another inch+ of snow again earlier this evening! Hope the new motor has decent window placement instruction for installation.

Good luck. Those can be a pain. I did both front window motors in my Econoline. One quit in a month again. Make sure you keep your parts receipt. Most replacement parts are junk these days.
