hi,

I've got an R reg Ford Fiesta which lately has been struggling to start - it starts but then i have to rev for the next 5-10 mins and in that time the car will chug as if it were about to stall if i dont keep the revs going a few times every minute. After 5-10 mins the car is back to its usual self.

Any ideas what could be causing this? i've checked battery, spark plugs and fuel filter. Changed oil etc but still having issues

It might be a good idea to check the EGR valve and system for staying open when it shouldn't.

 

Thanks for your reply, i'll do some research into this and how to go about checking/replacing it.

 

I'm glad you placed checking it before replacing it. Replacing parts on a hunch can get to be expensive especially if it wasn't the source of the problem.

 

Is this a new Fiesta, or the older one from the '70's? Just wondered.

 

It's a R reg Fiesta so 1997 i think
