Welcome to the site..
Pleather has been around for a long time. Naugahide, leatherette, leather-simulated vinyl etc. It used to be a standard practice, more so in recent years for the seats to be naugahide on the supporting panels and real leather paneled into the seating/facing area's. Was always called 'leather' seating even though you weren't paying for complete leather seating. Seems kinda misrepresented for sure. Other than king Ranch builds (and more exotics) which as far as I know still tend to be all leather..
What new Ford did you purchase?
Other then your what you experienced and to not discount your complaint (,, Pleather/naugahide is generally easier to clean and care for, less wrinkling/fold lines and stretching with age, a lighter construction material, and of course less expensive to use. The saving grace using the product is, that leather seating when it needs damage repair or panels replaced is very expensive and tends to be harder for an exact/best match. Wasn't as huge of a deal with naugahide in the wear area panels. With new technology products, its arguably a contender against natural leather. It certainly should be represented as the product used on the build data and a percentage of..
Cleaners that contain ammonia or ? or untested cleaners always concern me, more so if the dash or panels are hot from the sun. I know this too
Through up a few pics of the area's that were exposed..
