Hello, fellow ford lovers.
I found your site while hunting out information for a new power plant for my ute. First things first tho. My name is Ben, I am 28 and I own a 1978 Ford Falcon ute the basic stats include:
(Sorry if the lingo confuses any of you, but feel free to ask and I can try and relate the australian release to the American big brothers.)
I hope that me and my vehicle are welcome to join in the conversation.
5.8L 351 Cleveland
2V headds with 4V valves,
Excellerator manifold and 750 DP Holley
Forged bottom end with +0.040 cylinders
C4 3 speed automatic trans
9" diff with mini spool and 4:11's
HP is not really huge with about 300RWHP but it holds it own on the track with a best of 12.9 over the standard 1/4 mile.
I spose you are wondering what a Falcone looks like? Picture our "Mad Max" I think you guys know it as "Road Warrior" XB coupe....you know the mean as black one that Mel Gibson get around in. I have a very closely related version but in a ute body (ute being similar to you Ranchero, pick up the size of a car)
An old engine bay shot
and one of the rear
and finally, one at the track
EDIT: Still sort the pics, but here is a vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdvAnxBNqhw
My car is off the road going through a full re-build and I am looking form something to really drop jaws. My block is now reaching the end of it's life and finding good ones here is getting very hard, after much homework and looking around I think I may have settled on the 6.8L V10 Triton engine, which has landed me here to mingle with the guys that know them intimatly. I will get to that later in the appropriate forum and threads but it explains why an aussie has landed on your forum.
Look forward to sharing in the future.
Ben
