Default Which wagon to buy?

I know they don't even use that term anymore, but I always had a Taurus
wagon or Escort wagon and I want to get the car most like them today. The
main thing about the Taurus wagon was the nice ride which I need. I just
rode in a friends Escape and I don't like it, too far off the ground and I
didn't like the ride, I thought Edge was cheaper but it's not and probably is
also more like an Explorer. I hate all these crossovers, put wagon in a search
engine and you don't get anything but very old cars. I'd like to know the
difference before I shop around. Thank You.

Good question, Azeri!
Station wagons were first replaced by the minivans then these were in part replaced by SUVs, then these were partially replaced by crossovers. If you want to stay with Ford and you need lots of space you may have a look at the Flex. That is the closest thing to a station wagon / minivan. In a small vehicle you are left with the Fiesta or Focus hatchbacks.
You don't say if you need the space for people or for stuff.

Look also at Mazda 6 wagon, VW passat wagon, and Subaru wagons (Forester, i.e.). Since price matters I won't mention the other German makes.

Of course there are a lot of small hatchbacks out there. The Nissan Versa provides an amazing amount of space for it's small size.

I need room for stuff, not people, when my mother comes, we need room for the wheelchair which is stuffed into our old Taurus sedan, we often move furniture back and forth, I'm a Firestone so we have never had any other car in 20 years but the other feature, hope they still have it is the best air conditioners, tried out other wagons years ago and they were so
hot in the summer. I have never seen a Flex I don't think, before we go to the dealer, we want to know what they are making these days, I saw a Freestyle, someone said they are gone, it's all Escapes I see more than any other. Thank you.

I see your problem. I don't believe Ford has a good new car solution for you. The Flex is a people mover and you pay for that 3rd row seat and cup-holders you don't need. The Escape is a bit small for furniture hauling. Same thing for Focus Hatchback. There is more: Ford
