Direct injection turbocharged gas engine
I am really glad to see Ford is finally going to build direct injection gas engines.I often wondred why fuel injected were not built this way from the start, indirect injection to me just doesn`t make sense. If there is any doubt about this technology just look at direct injection turbo charged diesel engines. The fuel milage, the power and reliability are great. As you can tell I love diesels and would love a CrownVic with a diesel, but a lot of people don`t like diesels so these new engines should be the next best thing.Ford needs to really work hard to get the word out on these engines, afterall most people don`t even Ford builds a Hybrid.

RE: Direct injection turbocharged gas engine
Check this Mustang out that was customized in Germany
I would go with this engine. I would miss the V8 sounding engine, but still the 4 banger diesel has respectable numbers. And it is run on biodiesel.

I am having serious issues with the early Direct fuel injection (GDI) system with the eco boost turbo. I have reoccurring fuel rail fault codes P0087 & P219A and the high pressure pump is grinding down the cam creating dangerous driving conditions which require $3600 worth of repairs. The first time it happened at 29,000 miles it was covered by warranty, now it happened again at 54,000 miles. My warranty expired while in statewide lockdown, so Ford denied assistance with this systemic problem. The GDI system was rushed to market to meet the MPG mandates issued by Congress and never tested for safety. Multi-port fuel injection is much more reliable. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA.
