Hypertech Max Energy 42000
There are times when you will find yourself feeling totally raped and otherwise violated in the most private regions of your body. Right now I am having one of those experiences.
When I bought my Ford ThunderBird 1997 4.6 L V8 (which I love, by the way) I thought it would be nice to get one of them fancy chip programmers, so I set out to find one that would work for my car. Research led me to the model 42000 Hypertech Max Energy. I search through several Distributor sites and made sure that the main thing I needed it for, setting the max speed of the vehicle to match the speed rating of my tires.
One thing that was clear from all the sites I went to was that for model year 1997 that I would be able to program that value into the chip computer.
Wrong....For a 1997 Ford Thunderbird the only value available was S - 110 MPH that gain me a total of 4 MPH, the only other functions that worked was to set the fuel to premiumand shift firmness. Even the cooling fan temp was set 10 Degrees lower than the Thermistat installed.
The reason I learned what it really could do for my car was because I emailed the MFR and asked what was wrong with my programmer. That was when I got hit by the hammer.
So I emailed them back and said "so basically I paid 200 dollars to raise the top speed of my car by 4 MPH? Fortunatly I got this off ebay for 200 Dollars and not the 379 dollars that most sites sell them for.
If I can assume that this will not end well for me and I have taken it in the britches, then this is the first and last time that I will ever buy an after market performance product. They all claim wonders for their products...
Right now, I have responded to their reply and will see where it goes from here.
Wish me luck.
