1952 Stops running
I have a '52 CustomLine with a straight 6, automatic transmission and standard carburetor, all stock stuff for '52. It starts and runs fine for a short period. However after driving for about 5 miles when I come to a stop, or if going down a long hill where I am not using the throttle, the engine dies.
Sometimes it will easily start up, sometimes it takes some choke and throttle work before it will decide to go again.
Is this fuel pump or carb problem?
Thank you for sharing any expertise ~ Tom

With the engine not running, and air cleaner off, with the choke blade wide open, you should see a squirt of fuel into the carburetor bore every time when you move the throttle to wide open. You should see that, do you? Once you know what to look for, when the engine quits on you check for that squirt. If it squirts and the engine starts there is sufficient fuel for the engine to run. If you hold the throttle pedal to the floor and the engine starts , it was flooded. If you see no squirt the engine has run out of gas. What have you found so far?
