Cyliner head recomendations
Hi all, ive got a 66 fairlane 500. Looking to change the cylinder heads before i put on some new headers. Intake is edelbrock performer rpm, edelbrock 600 carb but i also have a 650 brawler that was too rich. Its on stage if needed. Stock 289 ( i think) it might have a mild cam but how can i tell ? Anyone have any recomendations for aluminium heads? Im partial to 2.02 intake valves as those ran well in my 68 mustang cali special 302. Also , the muffler shop recommends running 3 inch exaust through flowmasters the whole way, do all agree? Peace.

I''ve had good luck with Trick Flow 170 heads.I put them on a stock block 302 roller motor and TF stage I cam. . I've done it to two 302 and was very happy with the perfomance . Both run great idled good , started easy, and never gave me any problems.I don't think you need 3 in tubes. The 2 1/2 s will work great and give you more room to mount them under the car.If your going to install good heads you should install a set of headers. The stock manifolds will restrick the gains you get from the heads, intake, carb, and exaust. With the improvements you are talking you will be very pleased with the performance gains. Good luck . Roger
