Default 1991 E350 with a E4OD

I am having troubles with a E4OD in my E350 Club Wagon XL It has a 351W I was a Ford A Tech but left Ford before the E4OD came out. Her problem is getting stuck in high gear and if you try tro shift to a different gear she jams up solid and no movement unless I put her back in Drive only. She also shutters when taking off in 1st gear. Hot or cold no difference. Transmission history a year and two months ago and less than two thousand miles ago she blew out and was overhauled in a private shop. I was considering swapping a C-6 into her instead of trying to fix the E4OD. Anyone have any ideas of what is involved in doing such a conversion ???

FIrst of all many 351W's had the C-4. The transplant idea sounds like an unnecessary headache. Besides - your overdrive saves gas. If the trans. is having problems I'd take it back to the place that screwed it up and have them pay to fix it. Conversion could cost the price of the trans., driveshaft (to match), seals, and fluid. Plus you might end up with a worn C-6 - then you'd be back to square one unless you can overhaul them on your own. Plus the wiring might be different. If you aren't happy with that places work you should save some money and get a remanufactured E4OD with a warranty and slip it in - no fuss, no mess or maybe just a cheaplow miles unit from a local salvage yard. All in all it's really up to you (but you're right in thinkinga goodC6 would last longer).
