Help!! When I put the car is drive it won’t move, the engine will just rev. The reverse works fine. Recently my wife’s 2012 Ford Focus SEL has been giving me tons of problems. I just replaced the thermostat housing and the starter. It still has a delay when starting, does not fire right away. Once the car is started a a check engine light is now showing (do not have code). I also have checked all fuses and the fuses are good.

Please help me figure out what this could be.

 

Read codes first.That may give you some direction for things to check. I believe the transmission forward engagement issue is separate from your engine's drivability issue. Deal with the worst problem first, that being the transmission. On a light note, it may needs maintenance but more likely you are looking at something more serious. I would have the vehicke towed to a good transmission shop for diagnosis. I don't think it's a problem easily solved.

 

My co worker had this problem on his focus. It was a transmission sensor that Ford knows they have a problem with. If you call a ford Service shop they will probably know all about it. He had his fixed under a recall but took a couple of months to get one available
