2001 Ford Winstar SEL Transmission Leak (Urgent!)
Over the weekend as we were traveling through the mountains of West Virginia our van started leaking transmission fluid. My husband says it is coming from behind the flywheel inspection thing. I forgot exactly what he called it. My husband is a diesel mechanic so he knows how about vehicles but he is not sure what it could be leaking from or what he has to do to fix it. Help!!!!

Leaking from the TORQUE CONVERTER and/or The TORQUE CONVERTER SEAL. Was the Trans was Flushed and Filled recently? If so, When was it Flushed & Filled? Also, did you or your husband smell the Trans fluid burning prior to the leak?
I just had this same problem with my old man's 01 windstar and it came out to $2500.00 plus tax to fix all the seals, sensors, clutchpacks and a new torque converter. As per "ALLDATA" (Which I use in Lincoln Tech) it clocks out to exactly 16.7 Hours to un-install the transaxle, rebuild the cursed thing and re-install it
Now you know why FORD is sometimes called a
"F-actory O-rdered R-oad D-isaster"
