2001 windstar
Power windows quit working a year ago and interior lights would come on and power locks would start clicking while driving. Last week radio and ac shut off and had a rough idle and the door locks would not work. This Windstar has 222000 miles on it with out any major work on it. Still has original belts and hoses on it. does anybody have a clue what is wrong with it? Update now it will not start. Is it the ECM?
Thanks Mark

Body Control Module
Operation of all buttons, ***** and controllers are coordinated by the Body Control Module which uses a 2 wire signal bus to communicate with many of these devices. A problem with this bus will affect multiple chassis electrical functions. It could be wiring or a defective BCM. Troubleshooting the BCM requires special diagnostic tool that only a dealer will have. You can buy a used BCM and swap it out to see if it helps, but the BCM must be programmed by the dealer for your car or else the vehicle won't start. This was my experience with a 97 Jeep.
For rough idle, check vacuum and then fuel pressure. If OK, replace plugs, wires and coil unless they are fairly new. If it still idles rough, then problem is too much air and possible causes are: idle air control valve, mass air flow sensor, leaky EGR valve or some other emission control, PCV valve, intake manifold gasket leak, plenum gasket leak, blocked fuel filter etc. Re-torque intake manifold bolts and plenum bolts.

Do you know how to check for spark or fuel? We have to start someplace and every engine needs these two things in order to run. Is there any way you can get your hands on a scan tool to see if it has any codes in the ECM? If there is an Auto Zone around they might make the tool available to you and I have seen on this site , they don't charge for the loan, usually.
