99 Windstar IAT sensor readin -40 degrees
Check engine saying high voltage on the IAT sensor, my scan tool reads -40 degrees outside on a 60 degree day..I disconnected the gray and grayred wires from the sensor, and the scan tool still says -40 wtf..as soon as I clear iit it comes back on...I replaced the MAF IAt with a new unit...I am fed up ready There is a pcm reflash sticker under the hood that say ford canada on it 01 , 3.8, Im thinkin I need an ecm or a reflash any help would be greatly appreciated THanks in advance Tony

RE: 99 Windstar IAT sensor readin -40 degrees
Yeah busa I was a little out of line there, sorry a little frustrated considering Ive sorted out even the most intricate late model beamer electrical systems, and land rover.
Ill check the resistance to the pcm , I disconnected the IAT wires gray, gray red, gray red feeds 5v, the thermistor changes that voltage according to the air temps. so .5 volts, is like 60 degrees..the volts on the gray side are 4.5, with the wires unhooked the pcm says -40 so somewhere, on the return side to the pcm from the iat, has anyone had any problems with this ecm shorting before, if there is no 5v goin through or coming out of the iat, I would assume that the ecm has an internal short, or a short to + v somewhere in the harness..

go make to school sounds interesting.. Question are you a real mechanic or do you sit around all day pretending to be one on the computer, maybe you have a couple restorations you paid big dollars for and need to get your 2 Cents in...Yeah A little harsh yes, I dont want to ruffle feathers, butt I belong to 4 forums, jeep, bmw, chevy by far the most helpful people out there are on these farms, Actually I have a degree In AUtomotive Technology, Ive owned my own shop for 10 years and Im 27. Sorry my effing spelling was off dinkis, my keyboard has some spilled beer on it and it sticks alittle. Didnt know I was getting graded on this one... Oh yeah sometime sto save alittle time I abbreviate letters Kno, U , etc not grammatically correct
