Default Do I have the right battery for my Fordwindstar 99

Hi to everyone,

this is my first thread and I have several problems that I need to fix on the family windstar ford 99 and I'm grateful to find this forum for some advise and suggestions from you guys. later I'll ask for some suggestion for the other problems I have with my Ford.

this might be a simple question but I don't want to create more problems to this van, I just purchase a new battery for the windstar in Costco and I found a battery with the right fitment #8 but not the matching number that the catalog suggested to be 59 so I got another battery with the same fitment #8 but the number is 58. would the number matter as long the fitment is right? any suggestions before I connect the new battery?

Thanks in advance guys!

Batteries used in Ford vehicles usually have the terminals arranged differently from batteries used in some other vehicle brands. The battery should appear with the terminals/posts the same as the one removed , providing the removed one was the right one. As long as you place the positive cable on the positive ( + ) terminal post and the same with the negative ( - ) cable it should not make any difference . Some batteries are designated by Group #s like Group 58 which means the battery has certain height , width and length measurements. Just connect the positive cable first and expect some odd things to happen while the car's computer relearns your driving habits. It may take a few miles to adjust.

another thing that you might give a thought is cca rating the higher that rating the better for cold mornings and hard starting engines.

Thanks Hanky and grindman for your comments. I replace the battery yesterday and everything was find. I got some problems with the screw that holds the battery, it was too rusty. I end it up breaking the screw in order to place the battery to fit. I have to get a new screw now, thank you again for you input. fortunately this windstar is been good to us and not mayor problems I have encounter and the minivan es in a really good condition but I'm having some minor problems that I like to fix on my own, specially the two driver and passanger power windows that are not going down, seems that there is power to them but I'm suspecting that the windows got like glue to the rubber surrounding the window I will post a new thread as soon as I do some research about it and get some help from you guys.
