stalling '99 winstar sel 3.6L V6
I just had the belt replaced on my wife's '99 windstar sel. It ran great before then, but now stalls intermittently after start up until the engine warms. The belt sqeaks alot and feels tight. Can the belt being too tight cause it to stall?
Thanks,
Steve

not usually.....the belt runs the alternator and power steering pump....
only possibility is if the alt or power steering are seizing up and putting load on engine...
Highly unlikely but not impossible....
get a ratchet and take tension off belt to remove belt but applying pressure to idle arm (should be a square hole on idle pulley arm to insert ratchet and apply torque)
once you get the pulley off...spin the alt and power steering to make sure they spin freely.....
Does it only stall? any missing? Could be a Idle air control that is stuck closed....cold missing and stalling that goes away once warmed up are classic symptoms of stuck IAC...
does check engine light come on? any codes? is it carb or FI??
sounds like you had a jiffy quick place check you car.
Check to make sure air cleaner was replaced correctly.....check vacuum lines....mechanic might have screwed up when they were working on your engine pulley...
