Please can you advice me on how do I check this out and what is causing this to happen.
Also how much is the ABS EBCM for a ford windstar and can it be repaired.

to provide additional detail:
you should check if the the brake pressure switch that sits at the underside of the master cylinder is leaking brake fluid. You find it if you look over the air filter housing towards the firewall.
Make this a regular check or replace it immediately if there is a leak. Ford had a recall on this. If brake fluid leaks it will run down the wires and enter the harness at the ABS module. That stuff attracts water and this can cause a short resulting in fire.
The second issue its the ABS module itself. The printed circuit board is cracked and when the temperature goes up it disrupts some internal circuits. The ABS light comes on. In this situation you have regular brakes, no ABS.
There is no recall on this. Either live with it, replace it (about $1000 job) or have the ABS module repaired by for example: Automotive Scientific Inc. Your #1 Source for ECU, TCU, ABS, EBCM, Climate Control and Speedometer Repairs
